Students cleaning up at Holland's Rose
Since every member is required to do 25 hours of community service every year, our chapter participates in various group service activities.

Holland's Rose
Holland's Rose provides a comfortable home-away-from-home for cancer patients and familes who are seeking treatment in New Mexico. For the past several years, we have done spring landscaping for Holland's Rose. This involves everything from planting flowers and vegetables to pulling weeds.

We also do other service projects, such as performing at nursing homes and helping out around the local Ronald McDonald House, a similar establishment to Holland's Rose.

The Theta Alpha Chapter of the Eta Sigma National Home School Honor Society experienced an exciting and eventful year last year. Throughout the past several months, they have seen a huge growth in the society, enabling them to do several good and helpful service projects around Albuquerque.

Soon after the induction ceremony in October, they began serving their community by participating in numerous service projects. One of the first projects they did was sending packages of food and other items to soldiers overseas. The recipients of these packages quickly showed their gratitude by sending a letter full of thanks to the society. Following this project, the students gave their time and energy to Joy Junction for an afternoon by serving lunch to the residents. Also, the students went to the Albuquerque Christian Childrens Home to prepare a vegetable garden for planting. The Theta Alpha Chapter finished off their service projects by serving as waiters at a fundraiser dinner for Peaceful Habitations.

The 2010-2011 year of the Theta Alpha Chapter of the National Home School Honor Society was filled with service projects which greatly benefitted the members of the society and the community in which they lived. As the next year approaches, the members of the society look forward to serving their community, and helping those who live in it.
